Sunday Morning Healing Seminar - Part 3 - July 24, 2005

Let's begin with a little review…

When Jesus ministered to people he always addressed one of areas of need, as He said he would in Luke 4:18, 19

STEP TWO - DIAGNOSTIC DECISION

(Takes place during the interview)

Answers the question: "Why does this person have this condition?"

A. Physical realm – Luke 4:18, 19 “…sight to the blind…”

Illness, disease, injury, deformity…

God may give physical directions (vessels dilate, spine straighten, etc.)

B. Emotional realm – Luke 4:18 , 19 “…release the oppressed…” (Isaiah 61 – “…bind up the brokenhearted…” )

Wounded spirit and broken hearts

Usually involves relationships and therefore may require forgiveness

Curses, vows, soul ties, etc.

C. Spiritual realm – Luke 4:18 , 19 “…freedom for the prisoners…”

1. Demonization – Cast out

Not an “all or nothing” proposition – daimonizoi means demonized, not possessed

Many levels from harassment (Jesus in the wilderness in Luke 4 and Matthew 4) to absolute control and dysfunction (Gadarene demoniac in Mark 5:1-20)

2. Occult – Break

Access specifically given to Satan through witchcraft, astrology, mediums, etc.

Forbidden in Lev. 22:27 ; Deut. 18:11

3. Familial - Break

Sins and illnesses passed down through generations

Deuteronomy 5:9, 10

D. Sin – Luke 4:18 , 19 “…good news to the poor…year of the Lord's favor…”

Some illness is the result of sin, committed by or against the individual (Paralytic in Matthew 9:2-8 – “Your sins are forgiven.”)

Those you have committed – require confession, repentance and receiving forgiveness

Those committed against you – need to forgive others

Note – Categorization is to help understanding only. These sources may overlap and affect one another. Hurt may give ground to Satan and open the door for illness. The temptation is to see healing always as a quick fix. It is rarely so. Often these areas overlap and affect one another. A prayer for physical healing may uncover need for spiritual healing. A person set free from demonic influence may need further emotional healing, etc. Don't think that you have failed if they are not "totally fixed" the first time you pray.

Remember that the first two steps take place simultaneously, and take place on two planes. Ask the individual questions while listening for guidance from God. From what the person tells you and what God reveals to you, you are on your way to knowing which direction to go in prayer.

Next week we will talk about what to look for (phenomenological response).

(The service was again ended with a ‘Lab' of-sort where we continue to practice healing prayer by gathering throughout the sanctuary to pray for those in need of God's divine healing touch. Please join us next Sunday or check back here next week as this very important series unfolds)
